This class is typically for students in grades 4th-6th, often ages 8-12.

This class will teach the basic 4-step writing process taught in the TWJ Writing Foundations Handbook, and taught in all of our literature-based classes. These are 12 one-hour classes taught online in a classroom type setting via zoom.  The teacher will provide instruction (working through the TWJ Writing Foundations Handbook), assign homework (approximately one hour per week), and give individual feedback on each student's homework. At the end of the class, parents will receive an evaluation of their child's writing abilities, identifying strengths and weaknesses.

• Student is able to construct a simple sentence with a subject and a verb.

• Ready to gather ideas, learn to organize them, and write 11 complete sentences about a given topic.

• How to organize those ideas with a plan

• How to write a complete sentence

• How to compose an 11 sentence paragraph about a single topic

• Editing skills to improve sentences

• Revision skills to improve overall composition

• How to identify strengths and weaknesses in compositions

• Increased feedback from instructor to enable students to apply changes directly to their compositions

Cancellation Policy:

Due to the administrative costs and preparations of The Write Journey team to prepare classes and offer reasonable class sizes of 16-20 students, we must charge a cancellation fee. Teachers typically begin communication 2 weeks before classes begin, and class schedules must be finalized in order to offer the correct number of spots open for families. 

A $25 cancellation fee will be charged up to 2 weeks prior to the start of the ordered class. Any time after 2 weeks prior to the start of class, the cancellation fee is one full month’s charge. For private pay families with more than 2 children, a flat rate of $50 will be charged.
